We are so excited to announce our new Girls Hockey Director Annie Smyth-Hammond!

Annie Smyth-Hammond grew up in Massachusetts, playing hockey, soccer, and lacrosse, before she was recruited to play hockey at Stevenson University. Annie was a dedicated student-athlete at Stevenson University from 2016-2020. In addition to being a business communications major, Annie captained the Stevenson University Women’s Ice Hockey Team (NCAA) during her junior and senior years. She received the Mustang Award, as well as the American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholars award, during her time there.

After graduating from Stevenson University, Annie joined Manhattanville College Women’s Hockey (NCAA) as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Annie earned her Masters in Education from Manhattanville College. While at Manhattanville, she also coached for ProCrease, assisting in their goalie development programs. Following Manhattanville, Annie returned to her alma mater, Holderness School, to be the Assistant Director of Admissions and the Head Coach of the girls' varsity hockey team. She also worked as a dorm parent and advisor to students on campus. In her free time, Annie enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, and really anything that gets her outside!

"I am incredibly excited and honored to be joining the Seattle Junior Hockey Association as the Girls Hockey Director," Annie writes. "Their missions and values surrounding their community, both on the ice and off the ice, resonated with me on a personal level. I am looking forward to continuing to grow the girls' game in Seattle. I want to thank Marty, Mike, and Ian for the opportunity to join this wonderful organization!"

We are thrilled to welcome Annie into the Seattle Junior family. For many reasons it is a challenge to bring excellent hockey talent to the Seattle area, so Annie's acceptance is a real win for SJHA players, families, and coaches. Annie will arrive in mid-August and get to work right away with administrative and programatic responsibilities within the organization to make big impact for our girls. Welcome, Annie!
