We are here for the challenge of hockey. Read about the transformations at Seattle Junior.

Seattle Junior’s mission is to create transformational experiences for players, coaches, and families through hockey. Our development plans, education programs, communication, and season structure are all designed to open as many opportunities for transformation as possible. What we don’t always do well enough is name the many small—and big—ways that transformation happens every day.

What is transformation through hockey?
Hockey is a daily challenge. It demands skill, creativity, toughness, and grit—qualities built over time through effort, failure, and persistence. Progress looks different for every player, and comparison can be hard.

Yet within that challenge is so much growth. Players build resilience by getting up and trying again. They adapt when something doesn’t work. They learn to communicate with new adults and teammates, advocate for themselves, manage emotions, and balance growth, achievement, and fun.

What does transformation look like at Seattle Junior?
Our players have:

  • Learned to communicate needs with words, not fists
  • Asked for what they needed from their coach
  • Led impactful community service efforts
  • Used feedback to become more dynamic players
  • Stepped into leadership beyond their comfort zones
  • Earned postsecondary opportunities through hockey
  • Gained jobs through work ethic and communication skills
  • Built lifelong friendships and support systems

These transformations come from the daily challenge of hockey. We are proud to share that challenge with every player, coach, and family—and we take it seriously. No one at Seattle Junior is alone. If you or your player need perspective, guidance, or a place to talk, please reach out.

What is your transformation going to be?

As we approach the halfway point of the 2025–2026 season, many transformations are still unfolding. What a great lens for returning to hockey in January.

Enjoy a well-earned holiday break. Rest up—and get ready for the challenges of hockey in 2026.
