SJHA is excited to announce our free 2023 Body Contact Clinic. This three hour 45 minute tutorial separated over 3 on-ice sessions will give matriculating Bantams (2010 birth year) a chance to practice the concepts of competitive contact in a safe, low-stakes environment. USA Hockey regards competitive contact as a far more integral component to contact hockey than body checking. SJHA will be using USA Hockey's Body Contact curriculum to inform our planning and teaching. Competitive contact includes the following: Receiving Along the Boards, Receiving on Open Ice, Receiving from Behind, Rubbing Out, Screening Out, Boxing Out, Pinning. Throughout the clinic we will focus on these skills and contextualize them in game-like situations. 

Safety and ethics in contact hockey will be the paramount topic. 

This clinic will be open to all 2010 birth year players and an exception will be made for any 2009 birth year currently playing Rec hockey (non contact) who would like to tryout for a Rep team (contact) next year. We will limit the group to a certain number of spots, so please sign up soon.

All sessions will be held at OVA:
Monday, March 20th 5:15pm - 6:30pm
Wednesday, March 22nd 5:15pm - 6:30pm
Thursday, March 23rd 7:00pm-8:15pm

If your player is enjoying the Skillz with Marty or is looking to add components to their game before tryouts, we will be continuing the program in the spring. We will have a mixed-age boys group and an all girls group. Register for Skillz Engage now while spots last!
