The Lady Admirals program provides the USA Hockey recommended balance of practice time vs game time for the most optimal development of each individual player. USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM) recommends somewhere between a 3:1 and 2:1 on ice practices to games ratio.
"We see teams all the time following a 1:1 model of practices to games. In extreme cases, we have seen local teams with a 1:3 model of practices to games. This is way outside of USA hockey's American Development Model (ADM). We understand clearly that only a small amount of players develop when the proper ratio is not followed and it is our mission to provide more practice time to our players, coaches, and families than games in an effort to develop all of our athletes into better hockey players."
- Nick Fouts, Athletic Director of Seattle Junior

Hockey Practice versus Hockey Game
In the 2019-2020 season, Seattle Juniors Lady Admirals full time teams practice to games ratio will be between 3:1 and 2:1 for the hockey season. We will be doing this by increasing the amount of time for our on ice practices each week to between 2.5 - 3.75 hours.
"If practice makes perfect you would think the top 5 tier 1 girls hockey teams in the nation would be practicing more than they are playing games. However, if you do a little research you will discover that isn't the case. Just because the top programs in the nation attract the top girls in the nation that doesn't mean they are developing the best players. Seattle Junior is following the steps for developing players and because of that they are attracting players. Seattle Junior is focused on the development of each individual athlete. By increasing the amount of on ice practices per week in their girls program they will develop more hockey players. By being development focused the Lady Admirals will attract more players. I will not be surprised if the Lady Admirals have a top ten Tier 1 team in the near future. They are making their girls development a priority which is rare today."
- Jim O'Brien, Founder of the Girls Hockey Club
On a weekly basis the Lady Admirals will conduct a video review session to discuss game footage of games played or to go over game tactics and strategy. Coaches will focus on developing a better understanding of the game and educating players on how they can be better hockey players and what they can do to improve their game.
Seattle Junior has put together a track for Lady Admirals who tryout and don't make one of our three rep teams. We are committed to providing a home for all girl's wanting to play hockey at any level within our association. We will place each girl athlete at their appropriate skill level of play that will allow them to have an exciting season of hockey. We will work closely with local associations to put together tournament teams whenever possible that will allow our girls to experience the all girls opportunities in our region.
