    SJHA Goalie Program
The Admirals Goalie Performance Program believes in teaching all aspects of the position and showing our goalies how to incorporate their own individual style with the proper techniques. Along with this we will educate our families on our program along with other high level goalie camps to attend. The objective of the program is to educate, teach and train our students in the art of goaltending in a progressive format. By doing so, goalies are able to enhance their conditioned response to game situations with the end result being … Saves! In order for goalies to be successful in stopping the puck we believe in teaching "Great Fundamental Habits," which means working hard to perfect all aspects of the position. We strive to provide goaltenders with the ability to become more than just one-dimensional shot blockers, but rather develop them into consistent, successful goaltenders with a wide range of options and knowledge of the position. It is important we do not limit a goalies innate physical athleticism to become just an "angles goalie".We know that consistent skill development does not come by accident as it is the result of Correct Coaching, Skill Repetition, Intelligent Practice Design, and dedication from the student to learn in a fun and competitive environment. We have incorporated all of these elements of development into our training and look forward to helping each of our goalies in making that next save!

On Ice Training

The SJHA goalie program is built on a skill development curriculum that is age specific for our goalies. SJHA head goalie coach Terry Ralston has put together a program that has seen immediate results for our goalies. Along with the SJHA regular on ice program we also offer in conjunction with the Everett Silvertips (WHL) regular clinics during the season in addition to our regular ice times. SJHA and Terry Ralston along with Jay Varaday and the Everett Silvertips have constructed an on ice program second to none in our area. All goalie skills are broken down, demonstrated, and drilled. All drills performed represent a focus on the following aspects of the position:

Squirt and Pee Wee Goalies
Stance: Balance, Body Positioning
Skating Movement: Shuffle, T-push, C-cuts
Save Selection: Pad, Stick, Glove, Blocker
Rebound Control: Glove, Blocker, Stick, Chest
Net Play: Post Coverage, Post-Movement, Visual Tracking
Game Situations: Wrap-arounds, Angles (ropes), Deflections, Screens

Includes all of the fundamental skills above plus the following:

SJHA Professional Goalie Coach

When putting together a goalie specific training program the most important aspect is the coaching. With SJHA our students have the most credible and experienced goalie coach in the area. Terry Ralston has been the leader in goalie training in the Seattle area for the past 15 years. With his extensive intelligent teaching methods learned over time from some of the best, Terry understands what his goalies needs are and equips his students with the necessary knowledge to ensure development. Terry works with our dryland training staff to develop specific off ice training programs for our goalies.
